A heat map of closed claims distribution by State and County is included

What's in this report

This Claims Advantage Report shows the BLM case file details of mining claims cases that have had their status changed to "CLOSED" in the most recent reporting period. With the exception of weekends and Federal holidays the Claims Advantage Membership Reports are generated on the 1st and 15th of each calendar month.

There are several ways to view the information. Along with the aggregated information in the tables below you can see the information broken down to the claim details level in the individual State Reports, a set of Heatmaps are included in each Report to give you a visual of the overall changes by State and County and a direct link to a custom interactive map is provided for each claim entry.

Claims that have been classed as "CLOSED" by the BLM are not necessarily open to relocation. The previously claimed area may have been reclaimed, subject to a new location or closed to mineral entry. Claims Researchers are encouraged to understand that BLM mining claims case status is only one aspect of determining the land status for any particular portion of the public lands.

How this report might help your research

Sorting the State tables by clicking on the column title will allow you to sort by Location Date, Years Held, Township or County.

A "Show Map" button is provided to see a map of Active claims and land staus in the Section the closed claim was located in. That map will open in a new window or tab so you can compare the Closed Claims report to the Current Active Claims status.

Older Placer Claims represented in this report are an indication of mineralized areas that have held an interest to miners for an extended period. Knowing where minerals have been mined in the past may lead to new productive areas previously unknown to you.

To get more from your Claims Advantage Report please review the "How To" button on the menu at the top of every report page. Each interactive map has a "HELP" button at the top. The Land Matters website has more than 100 interactive maps, tutorials and hundreds of thousands of maps, books, manuals, pictures and videos.
