What is Soil Science?

Soil Science

Soil Science is the study of soil as a natural resource. It includes the study of soil formation, classification, chemical composition and other properties in relation to the use and management of soils.

Growing crops, building homes, landscaping, timber harvesting, mining, all of these things can benefit by knowledge of soil characteristics. Soil Science is used by geologists, biologists, engineers, farmers, forest managers and many other disciplines.
