My
small Clean Up Sluice
revisited
This was my original clean up
sluice, now it has some new mods. I went
to use it and the clips that hold in the carpet were missing.
They had
always been a slight pain so I decided to change things for the better.
I like the deep ribbed rubber carpet for quick gold identification,
it really catches the gold well, so I glued in a strip if it. While I
was at
it I glued three aluminum riffles in place to create eddy currents. This
is to catch any gold that tries to escape down the rubber. Now
it's all
one piece, nothing to remove, and no way to lose things.
I set it up in the tub and ran concentrates through it and what
a surprise. Most of the gold never even made it over the first riffle.
The couple that did were caught in the first eddy current, both were
trapped behind that first riffle.
Here's the results with no water flowing. The couple that made it over
were pretty flat flakes and that makes them hard to trap. To clean up
I simply hold it vertical over a gold pan and flush it with a water
bottle
that has a hole drilled in the cap.
This what I'm talking about!
Something easy that works well.
