Drag and Beep

On a recent trip out west to Nevada I ran into my friend Jack

 the Copper Nugget Man.

Jack can be found almost every day in the gold fields either swinging

his Minelab or his Gold Bug 2. This day I ran into him he was busy

doing an old prospecting technique called drag and beep.

He would drag down the gold bearing piles of dirt some heavy

equipment had piled and then detect them.

Every couple inches this brings up the nuggets to detectable reach

and he's doing quite well at this.

His favored detector is a Fisher Gold Bug 2 with the little coil.

This combo is capable of finding the littlest gold nuggets and flakes.

He has found hundreds of nuggets doing this technique.

Thanks again Jack for the photos

and good luck beeping!
