Next I wanted to melt down just over an ounce of gold so I needed
another potato. Here I'm readying it with flux then the gold.
Another heating with torch.
Nice little button forming.
Looks kind of bad at this stage, needs a clean up. I used some soap and water.
Notice some gold still on the potato halfs in the upper crust.
The weight went down as expected but not much. I still have just over an
ounce of gold, 480 grains is one troy ounce.
Here I cleaned them a little more on a wire wheel and consider them done.
Not pure gold but a dore button of natures best. On the left a ounce and
on the right one half ounce button. This was fun and
simple to do but work safe.
Good luck!
