Linda's Rock Drill

Not much to it just a couple boards and a few parts from the hobby shop and Ace Hardware.

The guides are brass tubes and stainless steel rods available at any hobby shop. The stops
are the collars that hold wheels on model airplanes, also available at the hobby shops.

The drill is simply clamped in place between the two small boards with stove bolts.

The stand is just a scrap piece of wood I had with the rods glued into it.

Simply a Dremel Tool in a precision guide, here it is completed. The dremel is
mounted between two small boards to clamp it into a guide arrangement. The
springs help shove down during drilling but allow it to be raised for water input.

Here are a few rocks we drilled to try it out.  On the left is rose quartz it was very
hard drilling but it went through with persistence. In the middle is some obsidian I
found near Topaz Mt. Ut. it was difficult too. On the right is some yellow calcite
it was easy to drill not being as hard. I am in no way an expert at this, so if anyone
has suggestions on this process/project please let me know. The gold gal and I will
greatly appreciate it.. Thanks..
