Metal Detector
Shoot-Out
Continued Page Two
Here the Whites GM-3
has the Gold Max coil on it, it could see the target
coin at 10 inches, barely. Just for fun I fired up the
Minelab and as expected
it SCREAMED at me.
This is the Minelab GP
Extreme with stock 11 inch DD coil. The target is
at
12 inches and the detector sees it no problem. The
Garrett, Tesoro, and
Whites
have been left in the dust now, they make no indication
at this depth.
I moved
the target to 14 inches and this is where the stock
Minelab started to
lose it.
Still at 14 inches and
I changed the coil to a 17 inch Mini UFO by Coiltek.
Now the
thing growls like a junk yard dog at me. Gotta move it
deeper for this
coil / combo.
Finaly at 18-19 inches
I lose the signal, I still had a solid growl at
16-17 so thats
the limit with this Mini UFO in this ground. Also note
that the Minelab
works in
highly mineralized areas where the others would be
sounding off with false
signals
everywhere. This is a huge plus with the Minelabs to be
able to work those
areas.
So thats it, I hope you found this test as interesting
as I did.
